Getting to Kasol

The Kheerganga trek

Kheerganga is a meadow with a hot spring, reached on foot from Barshaini, about an hour by road from Kasol. The walk is roughly 12 to 13 km one way and usually takes 5 to 6 hours going up. It is generally treated as an easy trek that first-timers can do, but weather and fitness change that. Snow can settle on the trail from about mid-December, and it may close for a while.

When to go to Kasol

Months What to expect
March to June Pleasant weather, good for walks and treks.
July to mid-September Monsoon. Trails are slippery, the river runs high and landslides can block the Bhuntar to Manikaran road.
Mid-September to November Clear, cooler weather and a second trekking window.
December to February Cold, with snow on higher trails. Check trail conditions before you plan a trek.
